Reviews
referencing Working For Nothing (CD, Album) HRCW001
Tough. Fucking tough is what this record is. From the first few bars of “The Fight” you know this record is going to be special. This song is brick hard and with big choruses catchy as fuck. Every action has a reaction. In this fucked up world it is not always equal it can be a crushing toll you pay to make it through this world. “The Price” talks about the price of a broken justice system and corrupt system levels on us all. Beside having great lyrics the song sounds brilliant.
Lost gems in the amazing catalog of Crusher songs are “Loose Cannon”, and “Machine Gun Love”. If you have this record please dust it off and listen to these two tracks. They are fucking great. The hammering drum roll of “Machine Gun Love” still gets the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. Sharp witty lyrics delivered to perfection will put a smile on your face.
There is no way I can review this record and not discuss the blistering Chelsea cover “Right To Work”. The original is a classic but what Bonecrusher has done to this song is blinding. The riffs are so fucking heavy. The Chorus is thick and vibrant. My hat is off to the band for making this song their own.
The band gives us one of their classic emotional personal reflection songs with “The Past Is Gone”. Our lives would be so much easier if we could all let the past go. I know it is not that easy. But Bonecrusher has given us a song to motivate us, inspire us, and hell if that does not work just rock out to it!
The album ends with some killer rhythm work on the hard as nails “Work For Nothing”. All those years ago Bonecrusher became one of my favorite bands and still stand at the top of my list today. “Working For Nothing” record is my personal favorite LP they have put out. It is so hard to pick a favorite since every record is at least really fucking good. But for my dollar if you can only take one full length with you, this is the one I would take. I can not fucking wait to see these guys at Midwest Live & Loud 2016.
